“Government will not sit still while opportunities are there for the takings to develop the country.”
That is the audible message from Prime Minister Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi in opening the first phase of the $140million upgrade to the Faleolo International Airport.
“There are complaints questioning investments of this nature doubting the government’s abilities to meet its foreign debt obligation.
“And time and again we have proven that government finances are stable and we have the capacity to secure concessional loans to fund these projects.
“No sane bank or a development partner would approve funding if government did not have the credit ratings and credibility to repay the concessional loans.
“And if government does not implement these projects. Who will?”
“If we don’t evolve with progress we will remain a step behind development.”
“The Faleolo Airport facelift is a step in the right direction in terms of Samoa’s development,” hails the Prime Minister.
The first phase consists of an area for passengers to check in, flight information display, public address and integration system, departure lounges, duty-free shops, restaurant and more.
The new departure area is equipped with modern state of the art technology for passengers.
“Samoa Airport Authority’s vision is to be the Pacific hub of air travel. It is government’s hope that more new air carriers will make use of the new Faleolo facilities to push our tourism and trade transport,” the Prime Minister concluded.
